The field here was not world class.
2nd place went to horse one race off a Maiden.
3rd place to a journeyman type stayer.

13 lengths though, is 13 lengths.

After considering the opposition and the Melbourne Cup record of previous horses who won the Irish St. Leger, Racing Victoria handicapper Greg Carpenter didn't see fit to re-handicap Septimus. I think a tight Caulfield Cup win would be far more meritorious than this pointless shalacking.

Horrible race as well. Doesn't convince me in the slightest
