Weekend Wrap

My weekend consisted of; watching the best player in the world Jarryd Hayne and his Eels booking their spot in the finals, backing Figure Of Speech at Caulfield at $80 the win, $15 the place, confirming that Denman and Mic Mac are a couple of serious racehorses, watching the Wallabies get smashed by the 'Boks everywhere but on the scoreboard, wondering why I paid $90 for a ticket to watch the Wallabies get molested by the 'Boks next week, watching the Dragons get spanked in front of Russell Crowe, wondering what will become of the ginormous bet I placed on the Dragons to win the comp, watching the Brisbane Lions doing their best to cough up a 48 point lead and a home final, wondering if anyone wants to trade a Wallabies ticket for a Brisbane Lions home final ticket, wondering why more NRL players can't be more like Hazem El Masri and marvelling at what having a great striker such as Emmanuel Adebayor can do for your EPL team. Good times...

What Did I Tell You?!

The excuses have started already:

Hilditch said Australian cricket was in a rebuilding phase following the keenly felt retirements of Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden and Glenn McGrath.

"The reality check is we're a young side, a rebuilding side, we've lost a lot of great players but had no time to reflect on that, we've got to reflect on the future," he said.

"We're going to have ups and downs in performance over the next couple of years while we continue a rebuilding process.

"The process is far from over. We've still got players we're going to lose in the next couple of years."

Well I sure as fuck ain't looking forward to the "far from over process". And haven't Warney and co been retired since the last Ashes? How fucking long are you going to hang onto that excuse? Consider yourself inducted into the WHAB Hall Of Fame.

I am.. the greatest.

Test match statistics:

Bowling
226 wickets at 32.78

Batting
3845 runs at 31.77

Numbers to act like Jesus about? Lets let history decide that.

10927 runs at 51.06? 98 wickets at 37? That's when you can start raising your arms like you just parted the Red Sea you fucking douche.

ASSCLOWN OF THE WEEK

"Despite results suggesting otherwise, Ponting is a superior captain to his predecessor, Steve Waugh. Ponting never runs out of ideas in the field, whereas Waugh, even with a more experienced and varied attack, often lacked inspiration.” – Ian Chappell said that Ponting's captaincy should not come under pressure.

What exactly did S. Waugh do to I. Chappell? Ran over his dog? Boned Mrs Chappell? I'd really love to know...

Could he seriously believe that Ponting is a better captain than Waugh?! Or does he just hate him so god damn much?

Failure

Let's not sugar-coat this people. Losing the Ashes to such a moderately talented bunch of Poms is unacceptable. Congratulations must go to England; they rose to the occasion and played to their potential. But for Australia, Ponting must go as captain and the selectors should fall on their swords as well. If Ponting had any decency he'd resign as captain effective immediately. If Hilditch had any decency he wouldn't try and put a positive spin on this loss like you know he's going to. You can just picture Hilditch trying to justify sticking with the current squad and captain after spanking the Windies at home. The Windies are rubbish in Tests and we should whitewash them. We won't buy that shit. The tour was a complete and utter failure and heads must roll. Ponting couldn't even grab the urn and run a'la Shooter McGavan and his gold jacket. Just hopeless. Well I'm off now to the airport with my team of sharp shoot...I mean, just off on a business trip...

A Couple For The Spring From The Captain

After spruiking Predatory Pricer to messrs Professor Chaos and JB for many months now, pretty much since watching the aerial view of his AJC Derby hard luck story, it was pleasing to see him justify that opinion in the Liston. Looks like he's headed for the Cox Plate rather than the Caulfield Cup, but I wouldn't rule him out of a Melbourne Cup start. I will be sending connections a replay of his AJC Derby run by registered post every couple of days from now until the first Tuesday in November. Just to remind them of the punters that took this fella at $71 in the early markets...

Speed Gifted is my other spruiking. His only Australian race was an absolute pantsing of listed race company over a mile. One moment he was enjoying a cup of tea with the backmarkers...a second later he was a couple in front with flames coming out his ass! Ex Luca Cumani...just like things that are made out of real pieces of panther...you know it's good...

Not much in the way of posting here, just thought I'd put up the market and leave the comments for a discussion of what's too short and what's not. Personally, I think the Pricer is too short for a race that he is highly unlikely to run in.

One's that I like at much more sensible odds are Daffodil ($26) who blew them away in its last start and the rising star Rangirangdoo ($51) who looks like this is a good trip for it. You know that a good run or two will put Master O'Reilly ($31) at his customary 10:1 so that's another for me. Rafaello ($31) is a stayer that has always had promise, in the best of care and is winning over unsuitably short trips.

Anyway, if people enjoy this we'll do a market like this weekly.

Over to you, discuss.
