Having all 10 of my horses run last week means that this week, I had only 2 of my current stable backing up; Raheeb and Guillotine. Not a terrible pair to be banking on by any means, Guillotine is a great chance in the Yalumba and Raheeb will be a big improver on a dry track in the Toorak.
Most of the cash for the day is coming from the Guineas, as such I want to have a couple of runners in that race. I have cut two high priced horses who I think are done for the spring - Mentality (there are no real $$$ left in Sydney) and Weekend Hussler (You can stick a fork in him by Cox plate day if R Mc keeps this program of his). In are Whobegotyou and Dreamscape. These two are big chances in the Guineas. May not see my $$ due to there being some better value bets in the Guineas - but they are deserved favourites.

Very solid trading there Professor - both massive chances for the Guineas. I have got myself in a bit of a jam in that I have kept the faith with WH. As a result I have no cash to play with. Out go Bianca and Predatory Pricer, in come Guillotine and Fernandina, with Time Thief also flying the banner in the Guineas. Get the cash Nash comes on as stable rider for the rest of the comp.
The Hussler is on borrowed time...
The Guineas looks to be an absolutely super race this year (compared to last year's poor excuse) with at least half a dozen genuine chances.
Nash has got some good rides. Main problem I can see for him is that he could well be whacking away on Confectioner and miss the Guineas. I am sticking with Craig williams unless you can trade your jockey for free. If you can, WHAB favourite from our Doomben days the Rodd goes on board.
Yeah, super Guineas. Dreamscape, WBY, Time Thief great chances and a few will slip right under the radar. I won't get on until tomorrow, but will take the best odds on offer between Tavistock, Von Costa and Duporth. Fernandina has not done a lot wrong either...
I thought that I could always put the Hussler back in come the Cox Plate if need be. I just don't see any good reason to have him for the Caulfield Cup.
Your Jockey trade is free, but you only get one of them for the entire comp. The trick with the Jocks is it doesn't matter which of the races they win, they get $100k regardless, so for the meetings where every race is included, you want someone who is a big chance of booting home a couple, even if they don't have a decent ride in the big races.
Which is yet another reason I should have stuck with C Brown last week...
I have always been an unabashed Hussler fan, and it has clouded my judgement - I should have punted him this week for Pompei Ruler or Whobegotyou.
Yeah, I think the Huss is the best horse in the country - I just think that it is going to be this years Miss Finland if R Mc isn't careful!
If the jockeys work that way, I am happy to stick with Williams. He will get some great rides all spring as Hayes' go to.
C. Brown an inspired choice. The Hussler...at this point, don't you think that you would just abandon the Caulfield Cup and focus on the Cox? I still think he could definitely win the Cox but not running next week. Last week was the 2nd most tumultuous run he has had next to the Emirates last year...I maintain that 3-4 wide the trip from the outside gate, first time over 2000m, 8th was a good effort, no matter who you are. Scratch him from the Caulfield or Spring Carnival over!
