Another good-looking win but again, the field wasn't exactly stellar. My big questions...do horses coming from that far back that are not named Makybe Diva win a Cox Plate very often? Is the Valley going to suit her?
Personally, I am prepared to give Princess Coup the benefit of the doubt on the quality of the opposition (NDJ and RR aren't donkeys) and everything she has done this prep has been with a view to the Cox Plate. If she can make up a bit of ground on the turn and unleash that finish, she will be right in it I reckon.
Would love to see Samantha Miss up there, and is every chance on the weight and that devestating turn of foot. My only query is that her form is all through the fillies when she has stayed out of trouble and then run them down. How will she fare with a dozen beefy blokes beating up on her for the first kay and half...
It's a tough call. Samantha Miss will have a light weight but I agree, she will have to stay out of traffic.
And it isn't like Princess Coup running well in Australia is unheard of. And NDJ and RR are some quality opposition. The main problem is when the second favourite was the Pookstah!
I'm off the Hussler, though the $2 never really appealed.
After watching its last couple of starts, my roughie is Sea Battle at $71!

Yeah, I put it up but she won't get any of my money for the Cox. Samantha Miss with no weight looks the goods for me.
