Drinks Break...We Need You Again!

Since Drinks Break retired his blog on the 8th of October, 2009, the Ponting-led Australian cricket team has lost only two matches, in all forms of cricket. These were two back to back ODI matches in India, in late October. Uncanny coincidence? And since that time, I've only had one thing to complain about with Punter...the ultimately lucky decision to bat first in the Sydney Test vs the Paki's. Considering that this blog was created in response to Ponting making fucked decisions, a'la "We'll have a bowl", Second Ashes Test, 2005, and that Drinks Break's mission statement was basically saluting the "ongoing demise of the Australian Cricket team", I feel the work is not done! I put it to you Drinks Break: "Can we live in a world of Australia under Ponting supremacy"?! I say...fuck no! And thus, you need to dust off that keyboard and mouse, and join me once again in restoring order in the world of cricket blogging and Ponting-bashing...what d'ya say?!

It's been a strange few months, for sure. What kind of world are we living in when Cryin' Shane Watson is odds-on favourite for the AB Medal? Madness.

Nevertheless, I have faith that when we face some genuine Test match opposition, we'll crumble in the Punter-tastic fashion we've come to know and, uh, love.

You're probably right...the current problem is that the Paki's and Windies are shite and have no depth whatsoever. Maybe a tougher time coming up from the Kiwis. And one gets the feeling there'll be additions to Punter's Ashes Fuck-Ups section of his CV.

Watson is now our official best player. A long stint of mediocrity beckons...

As much as I can see that Watson is infinitely superior with both bat and ball, I'd prefer the Jimmy Hopes experience in the one-day team. I don't know why. Perhaps that Watson is a complete twat and that the JHE just seems so likable.

Also, congrats on your retirement Dan, I've been taking a similar hiatus as there's just nothing that excites me about cricket blogging right now. Add to that the thrill a minute of the winter olympics...

Yep. It has been one of the duller seasons of cricket in recent memory. The only excitement has come from Pakistani implosions (last day of the Second Test, their 20/20 choke). And that's funny, but never as funny as when the Saffers do it.
